I have lived in America all my life. When I was very young, there was McCarthyism. When I was in my teens and twenties, there was a lot of activity, encompassing such varied causes as the Vietnam War, civil rights and women’s rights. In my thirties and forties there was the Satanist/day care child abuse scare. Lately, all the media seem consumed with two groups: terrorists and sex offenders.

In the spirit of complete honesty, I should reveal that I have two children on the sex offender registry. However, I should also tell you that, even if they were removed from it today, I would still continue my fight against this piece of public policy because it is wrong, flies in the face of all good research, and in fact does far more harm than good.

In this blog, I will probably concentrate on the sex offender registry, and in the details of just why it is wrong. There are also many other unjust attitudes and public policies that currently exist in America, though. I may take aim at one or two others from time to time. I attempt always to show the facts of the matter, because good decisions are dependent on good facts. If you need links to research I have quoted, please feel free to ask. If you find some “fact” quoted elsewhere that seems to contradict the facts I quote, look for the source. If the source is not credible, neither is the fact. If the source is good, sometimes quoting out of context will give a different slant on the fact. I encourage good research.

I am a Constitutionalist. This means that I insist that the Constitution be the document which should, before all others, be followed. It does not mean that I am a Republican or a Democrat. In fact, I am neither, since both parties have done their share of offending against this document and the intentions of its founders. Instead, I am an Independent, one who believes that politics (in the pejorative sense of the term) has been the ruin of this country. I also believe that we can pull back from the edge of disaster, by rededicating ourselves to seeing that the Constitution is followed in spirit as well as letter.

I hope my blog makes you research. I hope my blog makes you mad enough to do something. Most of all, I hope my blog makes you examine your viewpoint.
